Comparing ChatGPT vs Gemini AI using everyday queries

This maybe a little late in the game but I thought it would be interesting to compare two of the main chatbots available today, Open AI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini AI.

The idea for comparing these AI tools came out of day-to-day necessities, with the main motivation being the age-old question of whether to buy a home or rent.

Having mostly received mixed responses from people, online resources and social media, I turned to chatbots to help answer this question a little more objectively. Spoiler alert, the answer is as subjective as ever. However, AI did provide some more clarity.

As I dug deeper into the chatbot rabbit hole, I started to explore other questions I had on a daily basis and was surprised to find some genuinely helpful answers, or at the least help me think of the solution in a more refined manner.

Just to make sure I wasn’t missing out on a potentially better answer, I turned to Gemini to compare the response I received from ChatGPT.

Microsoft’s Copilot tool is promising as well but since it runs on ChatGPT’s large language model (LLM), it would have been redundant to review it. Another upcoming AI assistant is Meta’s Llama 3, launched in April 2024, but it’s too new to warrant a review.
